2nd death; Visalia nursing home outbreak

Thursday, April 2, 6:30 a.m.

Wednesday was a pivotal day in the spread of COVID-19 in Tulare County.

The county confirmed its second COVID-19-related death amid an explosion of 14 new cases, eight of which were traced to an outbreak at a Visalia nursing home.

Redwood Springs Healthcare Center, a 176-bed facility on 1925 E. Houston Ave. in northeast Visalia, said two healthcare workers developed coronavirus symptoms while treating two patients in one room.

Six seniors and two staff have since tested positive for COVID-19.

“Both healthcare professionals and patients are now isolated from the other residents and staff,” the center wrote.
